Women’s History Month – Women and Girls in Architecture

This is the story of progress! It happened through a one-time bus tour and an unexpected reaction in young people. This article from the archives tells about the research and impact of a tour featuring Chicago Women in Architecture. It was given to the public, which received it with rave reviews. The content was then adapted for a Girls Build event. It was fascinating how different the reactions of this young generation were compared to those who had created the tour and enjoyed it so far. Spoiler: they had no difficulty imagining women as architects! Learn about the tour and the young girls’ reactions in the article here, an encouraging read as we come to the end of this Women’s History Month.

I’m so glad the Women in Architecture bus tour that Ellen Shubart and I wrote and gave was helpful in this endeavor!! What a great idea to use it with these young women. Thank you!
