Women’s History Month – The Women’s L Project

Have you ever heard of the Women’s L Project? If not, you are in for a real treat. And if you have, it is worth a revisit during Women’s History Month. This endeavor is aimed at celebrating Chicago women, past and present. Using Chicago’s L system map, each station is renamed in honor of a woman. Included are well known celebrities like Betty White and Jane Addams. But also included are lesser known women like Rebecca Gilman, a playwright and professor.  The website and blog tell the stories of these great women who have contributed to all areas of life.

The project was created by Janet Volk, docent class of 2019. Learn more about her experience in the article from the archives here and check out the Women’s L Project website here
