Hello from The Bridge! We are the CAC source of news you can use in your role as a CAC docent and volunteer. The Bridge is a product of the Communications and Marketing Committee, a group of ten docents who meet monthly to map out the content and direction of our in-house publication. We publish announcements and feature articles of interest to our community, some assigned, others submitted “over the transom”, that is, unsolicited, by docents and volunteers who want to share anecdotes and research they have done. Some stories focus the spotlight on architectural styles, particular architects, Chicago history, or trends in urban planning. Others recount stories of standout moments on tours, world travels, or profiles of our members. There are photo features, the occasional quiz, and milestones in the lives of our community. We post a new edition every Friday afternoon, and move stories to the Features archive after a couple of weeks so that you can easily access anything you may have missed or want to read again.
We are happy that there were 685 page views of our site between Dec. 18 and Jan.14, but we do not wish to rest on our laurels. What would you like to read about on The Bridge? Please contact us if there’s a subject you’d like to see discussed, or someone you’d like us to interview. Let us know if you’d like to share a significant event in your life in our Milestones feature. We’ve noticed an uptick in comments following features that you enjoy…keep ‘em coming! Questions?
