VEV Chair’s Message – November 2017

Greetings fellow volunteers,

Just about now each year we begin to look back to reflect on the past year while looking forward to the holidays and 2018.

I want to remind all of you to go onto Volunteer Matters and review the hours you put in so far this year. You might need a “bump” to fulfill your annual requirement and remain a volunteer in good standing. Hopefully, everyone has met or exceeded their minimum 30-hour requirement. But if not, sign up now for some shifts!

Education Guides have a slightly different requirement, so please check with Caroline if you need an update on that number.

November and December are especially busy in the shop and the atrium. Lots of visitors are in Chicago doing holiday shopping or spending time with friends and family. Viewing The Model or taking a tour are great ways to introduce newcomers to our great city! Don’t forget that during December there is a special discount in the shop for members. So you might want to join our visitors for holiday treats!

Please keep your calendars open for our annual VEV Holiday Party. Caroline is working on setting a date, and it will most likely be the first week of December.

Finally, let me leave you with this thought: nominations for the Volunteer Steering Committee are being collected. Any volunteer who wants to get more involved is always welcome to attend our monthly Steering Committee meetings…it’s a very fun group!

Sincerely,

Ellen Oberhart
Chair of the Volunteer Steering Committee
