Greetings fellow volunteers,
The third annual VAN (Volunteer Appreciation Night) was a great success! Seeing many new faces along with the familiar faces made me think how much the VEV group has grown in the past few years. For those of you who were not able to attend, I encourage you to pencil it on your calendar for next year. The view from this year’s venue (Mid-America Club) was gorgeous although a bit misty! Many thanks to Caroline & Hallie and the rest of the staff at CAF who made this wonderful evening possible.
Once again I would like to encourage all VEV’s to cross train and acquire the skills and knowledge to volunteer in another capacity. It never hurts to broaden our knowledge and with so many great volunteer opportunities at CAF, why limit yourself to just one?
Another way to participate is to share your comments, suggestions, complaints (if you have any!) with Caroline, myself, your trusted team leader or anyone on the VEV Steering Committee. Since we frequently don’t connect while volunteering, great suggestions may not be immediately shared and passed on. This goes for any issues or complaints a customer, visitor or you may have and would like to share. The VEV Steering Committee wants to hear about it and help.
Finally, be on the lookout for the fabulous volunteer tours and events coming up in the next few months. Caroline has been working hard to coordinate all the details to make these extras especially great!
Looking forward to seeing you in the shop, the atrium, the Design Studio and 360 Chicago!
Sincerely,
Ellen Oberhart
Chairman of the Volunteer Steering Committee
Hello Ellen, Sorry I couldn’t make this year’s celebration – I love the opportunity to meet more of my cohorts in the CAF world.
You mentioned in your note that you encourage VEVs to cross train and acquire skills in other volunteer areas. Apart from learning to become a docent, what other volunteer opportunities are available? I’d love to learn more.
Thank you,
Maureen Kennedy
