Dear Docents and Volunteers –
We have made the decision to close the Chicago Architecture Center effective 5 pm tonight. Our plans are to reopen on April 1 but will access the situation as the date becomes closer. Our staff will be working from home and checking emails should you have questions or concerns. Below you will find additional details.
- River Cruise – The Architecture River Cruise will run this Sunday, March 15 and will resume on Saturday, April 4. We have been in close communication with CFL who is committed to providing a safe environment for the docents and our guests.
- Walking Tours – We will suspend all walking tours (inclusive of building and neighborhood tours) through March 31 effective immediately.
- Bus Tours – Due to the close proximity and enclosed vehicle we will be cancelling these tours until April 17. April 18 will restart bus tours with Highlights by Bus.
- Group Walking and Bus Tours –All group walking and bus tours have been cancelled and we are working on rescheduling them after April 1.
- Public Programs (including Membership Night) – All public programs through Apr 12 will be cancelled due the close proximity that people sit.
- River Cruise and 2020 Docent Class – These trainings have been cancelled for Mar 14 and will resume on Saturday, Apr 18
- Field Trips – All student field trips were cancelled until we reopen as well. Staff will keep you informed of any other cancellations.
- Docent Appreciation Night – This event on April 3 has been postponed, but we are looking to reschedule in June or July.
- Volunteer Hours – Docents and Volunteers scheduled for shifts and tours will still receive credit for all shifts and tours cancelled.
- Meetings with Staff – If you have a meeting with a staff or a committee meeting, the appropriate staff will be in contact with you on next steps.
As we all know, this is a very fluid situation and we will be checking in with you as things progress. The latest directive from the City of Chicago and State of Illinois is listed here. Please follow it and be safe. Together we will get through this tough time.
Regards,
Lynn Osmond
