LOVE IN THE TIME OF CORONA: Chicagoans Engage at Parthenon in Athens
Athens, Greece, March 12, 2020 — In a ceremony next to the weathered columns of the ancient Parthenon, Brent Hoffmann proposed marriage to Susan Robertson, his fellow docent at the Chicago Architecture Center. He said, “Pursuant to the powers vested in me by the great gods and goddesses of Ancient Greece, I ask, will you be my Athena, will you be my Aphrodite, will you be my wife?” She accepted his proposal. He slipped on the engagement ring. They kissed. Accompanying the couple, as witnesses and photographers, were friends Jim and Alice Noone of Fairfax, Virginia
The title line above was inspired by Love in the Time of Cholera, a Gabriel Garcia Marquez novel popular in the late 1980s.
Congratulations to Brent and Susan!
All our good wishes for a health and happy future.
