Docents and volunteers tend to be lifelong learners, and two of our number are pulling up stakes in Chicago to pursue more education.
Laurel Kruke, class of 2019, will be studying for a Ph.D. in Urban Education Policy at the University of Southern California. Given her CAC training, she’s going to bring more to the program than most students! Laurel is getting her tours in now and anticipates staying active during breaks.
Patrick Miner, class of 2012 and former staffer, will pursue Ph.D. studies at the University of Edinburgh. He expects to take a leave of absence, then return to active docent status on his return.
One of us Joan Kuhn, class of 2005, is hanging up her CAC sneakers after a long docent career. Joan was awarded Emeritus status by Docent Council in July. Among her many activities, Joan served as the Palmer House Tour Director from 2009-2021 and was the Palmer House coordinator for OHC for several years. She served in DPRP from 2007-2010. Joan received a Docent Service Award in 2010.
Breaking news so seldom gets a follow up. Earlier in the year, The Bridge reported the romantic engagement of two CAC docents at the Parthenon in Athens, Greece. We now report the following: On August 12, 2021, Brent Hoffmann and Susan Robertson were married at City Hall. The masked Judge Lynn Boyle officiated at the efficient, two-minute ceremony. No guests were permitted, due to the pandemic. Photos were taken by the security guard. Susan and Brent reside happily unmasked in Lakeview. Congratulations!
Congrats, Brent and Susan !!!
Congratulations Brent and Susan
