Did you identify the following uniquely named women and the role they played in Chicago history and or Chicago architecture? Bertha, Mamah, Olgivanna, Eulalia, and Dila.
Bertha – Bertha Honore Palmer, queen of Chicago society and wife of Potter Palmer
Mamah – Mamah Borthwick Cheney, soulmate of Frank Lloyd Wright who died in the Taliesen murders of 1914
Olgivanna – née Lazović, 3rd and final wife of Frank Lloyd Wright, and for whom Taliesen West was built
Eulalia – the “infanta” (princess of Spain), who came to the World’s Columbian Exposition and spurred controversy by doing things like mingling with the poor and smoking
Dila – Dila Kohn, wife of architect Dankmar Adler, founders of the K.A.M. synagogue, which later became the Pilgrim Baptist Church.
