The Bridge Wants You…Still and Always!

Without a doubt CAC docents and volunteers are a fascinating group of people with interesting stories to tell. Please share them with us on the Bridge. We run features regularly— Short Tales (brief vignettes about memorable encounters on tours or at the Center), Globetrotters (stories of your travels either domestic or international), Transitions and Milestones (births, deaths, marriages, etc. within our community), a monthly Photography Feature, as well as deep dives into architectural styles and details of specific buildings and architects’ work. Write about what inspires and interests you and share with the CAC community on the Bridge.

Here are the guidelines:

  1. Stories should be of interest to the broadest of the CAC community.
  2. The word count can range between 700 and 1000 words (shorter for Short Tales and Transitions and Milestones). Our new research into online publications shows that this is a widely accepted word count. Keep in mind while writing that, as in architecture, less is often more.
  3. Pictures are welcome, but please submit them separately. Indicate “Insert photo here” in the copy of your story so it’s clear where you intend it to appear.
  4. Send your copy to em********@ya***.com. Emily logs the story into the editorial calendar.
  5. All copy is edited; significant changes are sent to the author for review.
  6. The Communications Committee will determine whether and when to post a piece; we strive for a balanced menu in keeping with the varied interests of our readers.

The current Communications Committee includes Managing Editor Emily Clott, Art Director Leslie Clark Lewis, Marketing Director Ellen Shubart, and Copy Editor Diane Wagner, contributing members Cynthia Bates, Jill Carlson, Lisa Ciota, Brent Hoffman, Betsy Jenkins, Amanda Lewis, and staff liaisons Lexie Oliva and Cole Christian. Please contact any of us with questions or concerns.
