Thank You!!!! – From Jen Masengarb

Dear CAF Docents and Volunteers,

What a farewell last evening! Wow. Heartfelt thanks to all those who came to raise a glass, eat cake, remember, and celebrate. And many thanks also to those who have sent cards, notes, and gifts these past several days. I am so humbled by the very generous gift from the docent council and will put it to good use in setting up a new apartment in Copenhagen. Thank you, thank you.

Next week, you can find me at jm********@gm***.com. I’ll be posting photos from Denmark on Instagram as well as architectural articles and news from Europe on Twitter. And while my 200+ Chicago haiku series will come to an end, I look forward to trying to capture life in Copenhagen in 17 syllables.

You may have heard that the Danish Architecture Center is also opening a new building. Their staff moves in on March 12 (my first day, too) and the Center opens in early May 2018. I do hope you’ll consider adding Copenhagen to your architectural travel wish list, testing out the new tours we develop for international visitors. You can find me there at:

Dansk Arkitektur Center
Bryghuspladsen 10
1473 Copenhagen K

Denmark

I’ve so loved exploring the world of architecture with you these past 17 years. Of all the moments that brought me to tears last night, it was the caption on a PowerPoint slide from Kathleen Carpenter that hit hardest: ‘You taught us how to teach others,’ it said. That about sums it all up.

Many thanks and best wishes in all you continue to do for CAF – empowering and inspiring visitors to truly see this city with new eyes. Take care and keep in touch.

Indtil vi mødes igen,
Jen Masengarb
