I hope you all are doing well and staying safe! These are unprecedented times and we want to be sure we are keeping up communication with you all throughout our CAC closure.
Please remember that even though the CAC and our offices are closed, Caroline and I are still working! We are now both on a Monday through Friday schedule for the duration of our closure. If you need to get in touch with us, you can still call us on our work numbers, but the most efficient way to communicate is via email.
We will continue to post on The Bridge and send out the Weekly Update as normal each week.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, many offices and businesses are closing so that people can practice “social distancing.” The basic idea of social distancing is to keep your space from other people. COVID-19 is transmitted through respiratory droplets that can spread when you are within 6 feet of someone. Social distancing slows the spread of the virus and protects the most vulnerable, including older adults and those who have underlying health conditions. Even if you are not showing symptoms, it’s important to stay at home to avoid exposure to the virus or unknowingly transmitting it to people you may interact with. You can read much more about social distancing in this helpful article from AARP.
You don’t need to (and shouldn’t!) stay inside all the time, you do need to be mindful of keeping distance when you go outside and not gathering in groups. Bars and restaurants are closed for dining, but you still have the ability to take a walk outside or make trips to the grocery store. Getting fresh air every day is a great way to combat the “cabin fever” of social distancing.
While the CAC is closed, we hope that you will not hold any sort of meetings on your own. Committee meetings that are scheduled during our closure will happen virtually and appropriate staff will reach out to you with details. If you do feel the need to have meetings or discussions with fellow docents or volunteers, we strongly encourage you to do so virtually via one of the many platforms available like Zoom or Skype, or even FaceTime.
Staying in touch with friends and family is key in keeping some normalcy in these crazy times. Having regular phone calls or video chats can help to make you feel connected even if you are social distancing on your own.
Remember that we are here for you! If you need anything, please let us know how we can help. Even if you just want to call to chat because you’re feeling lonely. I know that I miss seeing your friendly faces around the CAC!
Keep in touch and stay safe.
Caroline and Michele
