Good news – the CAC is back! Tours have restarted and the center will soon be opening.
So what are we doing about tour requirements this year? The docent handbook has specific requirements for what we all must do to maintain our active docent status. For 2020, all docent tour requirements were waived, and all 2019 active docents remained active going into 2021. Since the pandemic continued to dominate the first quarter of the year, Docent Council has decided to modify the tour requirements for 2021. The docent requirements for 2021 only, are as follows:
- Give 5 tours during 2021 (byes are included). We encourage ALL docents to give as many tours as possible. The CAC needs us!
- The requirement to give one tour for every tour for which you are certified is waived for 2021.
- Anyone not meeting the 5-tour requirement by year’s end will automatically be granted a leave of absence for 2021 (no application is necessary). Please consult the docent handbook for the rules related to leaves of absence. The most important factors to note:
a. Tours and merit hours earned during a leave-of-absence will not count toward any previous or future minimum requirement.
b. Leave of absence years are not counted toward a docent’s accumulated active-docent years.
Appeals of this leave of absence policy can be made in writing to the Standards Committee.
Docent Council hopes these relaxed tour requirements will reduce the stress some docents may be feeling. As always, if the health situation changes dramatically, these requirements will be revisited. If you have any questions, please reach out to Docent Council President, Kent Foutty (kf*****@gm***.com).
Thank you for this clear and understandable message.
May we all have a successful season as docents for the CAC.
Sincerely,
Mike Mader
