Happy New Year, docents one and all.
Before writing this letter, I re-read “The Move Update – January 12” article on The Bridge to make sure that I don’t repeat any of the great information contained within it. It’s all there — info on training, certification, and what to expect from the Engaging Your Audience module. If any of your have questions, you are welcome to start by emailing me, and I’ll try to provide an answer.
Meanwhile, Docent Council has gotten underway for 2018. With the election of four new members, here is the roster:

Recent activities from Tour Committee, which now has a new co-chair with Tom Carmichael joining Lisa Voigt, includes the approval of several new Tour Directors or Co-Directors. The list includes Jack Kremers and Deb Garber on the “legacy” version of Historic Skyscrapers, Ed McDevitt and Nancy Carter on the debut tour that will portray early commercial buildings, Lisa Voigt stepping in as co-TD for Evolution, and Kathleen Hanley and Lance Friedmann working with me on the River Cruise as co-TDs.
All committee chairs and co-chairs, TDs and co-TDs, members of Project Fresh and the Move Task Force — everyone has done extraordinary work, often in cooperation with CAF staff, getting us poised for our next great adventure. Over the next few months I hope to tell you about plans for Exhibitions in the new Center, the new physical space on the ground and plaza levels of 111 E Wacker (including the new Docent/Volunteer Lounge), and the capital campaign to fund our growth. Continue to watch The Bridge and Erin’s helpful weekly updates.
Finally, although we may have missed the infamous Bomb Cyclone, the weather since Christmas has been a challenge. Thanks to all of you who have braved the elements to turn out for public tours, demos of new tours, and self-guided practices to get in shape for training.
Don’t slip on the ice. Stay warm. Stay healthy.
My best, Constance
