Dear Docents, Exhibit Hosts, Education Guides, and Guest Services Volunteers –
Today (June 11), the City of Chicago will fully re-open lifting most COVID restrictions.
But what does this mean for the CAC staff, guests, and volunteers?
Masks –
Masks will no longer be required on tours or in the CAC for those that are fully vaccinated. For those staff, volunteers, and guests that are not fully vaccinated, we are encouraging masks to be worn. There will be signage on the front doors and in the CAC that reflects this message. This message will also be on the CAC website.
Masks are also no longer needed on the River Cruise EXCEPT when in the salon or head areas. You do not need to wear a mask while boarding either.
Social Distancing –
As the state guidelines indicate, please continue to be mindful of social distancing – especially in indoor spaces.
Capacity on Walking Tours –
Capacity on walking tours will be raised to the pre-pandemic levels of 15 guests per docent for tours departing from the CAC (some exclusions do apply). This will be effective on Jun 17.
Capacity for neighborhood tours will be raised to 10 guest per docent effective Jul 1.
- Tour Directors: If you have any concerns, please contact Caroline.
CAC Related Items –
- The touchscreens around the model will be available for use by the general public
- Exhibit Hosts: Lysol wipes will be available to you to clean the screens as needed
- The water fountains will be turned on
- The Volunteer Library will be available by the end of the month. We have maintenance and other items to resolve before reopening that space.
- Continue to use the closet near the water fountains to store your items
Summer Related Items for Walking Tours –
We have already had some very hot weather the long term outlook is a summer with above average temperatures.
If you are giving a walking tour, please ensure your safety and the well-being of our guests as well.
- Stay hydrated and bring water on your tour (the CAC will have water available for you as well)
- Adjust your tour as needed to allow for a longer shaded break or to walk at a slower pace
- Check-in with the guests to see how they are coping with the heat
- Refer to the Weather Policy on The Bridge if you have further questions
We Are Hiring –
We need some good people to work in our call center and box office to support the CAC and tours. If you know anyone who is looking for part-time work / customer service work during this time, please let them know about the CAC and have them apply online.
We are excited to be entering into Phase 5 and welcoming more guests to the CAC and our tours and programs. Thank you for all you do to support the CAC.
Thank you – Michael Malak and Caroline Duda
