Pivotal Moments: Big events in life are full of pivotal moments, those which cause us to change direction. Chicago has experienced many pivotal moments due to the COVID pandemic. We will forever remember the first few days in which “social distancing” became a mandate. 5 pm on March 21th ushered in “Shelter-in-Place.” I can think of many other firsts: the first mask, first friend diagnosed with COVID, first day without our lakefront trails and parks, giving my first piano online lesson. Living in the heart of the city, I am trying to document as many of these moments as I can (while keeping my social distance). One of the true constants in all this change is the beauty of our city. Our buildings seem to be standing guard, representatives of all we have been able to achieve here, and beacons of hope for all we will return to. I hope you will enjoy some of the images I am sharing today. Our architecture is a big part of all of them.
