Opinion White Sox & The 78 by Eleanor Gorski

Dear Docents & Volunteers,

In furtherance of Goal 2* of our strategic plan, I recently had the opportunity to share my opinion with Crain’s Chicago Business on the White Sox’ proposed move from Bridgeport to The 78.

In short, I believe the proposal provides an opportunity — and an obligation — to thoughtfully plan with community and professional input for the benefit of all Chicagoans and for our great baseball legacy. You can read the full op-ed here: https://www.chicagobusiness.com/opinion/white-sox-move-78-could-benefit-all-chicago-opinion.

The CAC is a booster for the city and is staying involved in conversations around development, adaptive reuse, and urban planning so that we can be a voice for the people and a source of unbiased information for citizens to learn about how these modernizations of our city will affect them. We need a robust public dialogue that helps protect Chicagoans’ shared interests, and the CAC is creating the space for these dialogues through our programming plan for 2024. Keep an eye out for our new exhibition on reshaping downtowns, opening this April, and the programs and tours we’re planning around this topic.

I appreciate your support in making CAC an active voice on what’s next for Chicago and beyond. If you have questions please email me at eg*****@ar**********.org.

My Best,
Eleanor Gorski

*Goal 2: CAC is a leading forum that educates and inspires people of all ages to take active roles with the built environment to attain the communities they want, need and deserve
