New River Cruise Ad Launched

CFL-CAF River Cruise ArtBy Ellen Shubart, Class of 2006

The prow of the boat sails toward the reader, and gathered behind Chicago’s First Lady are the city’s “architectural legends,” including, of course, the Willis Tower, but also Marina City, Aqua, the Jeweler’s Building and Tribune Tower among others.

If you haven’t found the new advertisement for CAF’s award-winning River Cruise, seek it out in full-page glory in this month’s Chicago magazine, The Reader and other publications and sites around town.

For the first time, CAF and Chicago’s First Lady (CFL) are combining advertising forces. Instead of separate River Cruise campaigns, the two organizations are now sharing the same ad illustrations and copy. The punch of the cooperative effort should be more than double as the result of the synergistic arrangement.

The ad’s illustration is just that – not a photo. Obviously, Tribune Tower is not next to the new 150 Riverside building, but they are here, and 333 Wacker fits nicely in front of Willis. The collection of Chicago Icons, which is also the tag line of the new web site (www.Chicagoicons.com ) for the promotion, was created by a local artist.

The copy reads “Legends are revealed on the Chicago Architecture Foundation River Cruise aboard Chicago’s First Lady Cruises. Unscripted. Unrivaled. Unforgettable.”

How true. Check out the new ad. It’ll make you even more proud of CAF and our excellent tours.
