Have you ever wanted to sign up for a tour or shift that will extend into the evening hours – and decide not to because of safety concerns? Look no further – help is at hand.
.
The Docent Council Health and Safety project team looked at issues and possible solutions to evening safety challenges – and is pleased to introduce the Parking and Transportation Reimbursement Program. Simply stated, the program will reimburse you up to $25.00 for parking and/or transportation (taxi, train, bus) expenses related to guest-facing activities that begin after 6:00 pm. You can choose the transportation option that helps you feel safe going home in the evening.
How does it work? After your covered event, complete the Reimbursement Request procedure which is available on The Bridge in the “All Volunteers” folder under “Files and Documents”. Attach your transportation receipts and submit to Caroline. You will receive a check from CAC.
How can you learn more about the process? CLICK HERE to read more details about the parking and transportation reimbursement request procedure and the Illinois Center parking garage instructions. Remember – validated parking is available at 111 E Wacker for $14, which is fully reimbursable for covered events!
Who is eligible for the program? Docents, education guides, exhibit hosts, guest services volunteers.
What activities are covered? Guest-facing activities that begin after 6:00 pm. This means 7:00 and 7:30 pm evening River Cruises and certain exhibit hosting or other events as approved. It is not for enrichment programs, lectures, meetings or social gatherings.
So, now you can reconsider those evening tours or shifts – and sign up with confidence.
Thanks go to the Health and Safety project team (Kathleen Carpenter, Emily Clott, Caroline Duda, Lance Friedmann, John Schneider) for developing the program and securing support.
