Throughout 2020, the CAC will reveal the first major changes to its exhibition spaces. When we have more information to share as the exhibit details are confirmed, you will be the first to know! We will share some talking points and tips for Exhibit Hosts as soon as we have them.
For now, here’s some of what’s in store:

ENERGY REVOLUTION: Creating Our Carbon-Free Future
April–November 2020
Developed in partnership by CAC programs staff and curatorial consultants at Farr Associates, “Energy Revolution” communicates clearly and with justifiable urgency the choices required for Chicago to achieve net-zero carbon consumption. Housed in the Usher Lambe Rotating Gallery on the Center’s second floor, “Energy Revolution” is made possible by Exhibit Sponsor ComEd and a grant from the Illinois Science Energy and Innovation Foundation.
NEW ON THE FIRST FLOOR
Rethinking Affordable Communities
Late spring 2020
Did you know 30 percent of adults in the U.S. live alone? That nuclear families comprise only 20 percent of contemporary households? This new spotlight in the Chicago Gallery, featuring concepts and ideas from local architects and sponsored by AARP, imagines a future neighborhood that offers more flexible approaches to housing, to be more supportive of the various ways people live today.
NEW IN THE ATRIUM
Net-Zero Skyscrapers
February 2020
Eight students from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design were challenged to conceptualize tall buildings that generate at least as much power as they consume. See scale models of these sustainable towers of the future, on loan to the CAC for a limited time and free to view with or without Center admission.
NEW IN THE SKYSCRAPER GALLERY
Building Tall
Spring 2020
Presentation models of some of the world’s newest, tallest high-rises are en route to the Drake Family Skyscraper Gallery. See where the cutting edges of architectural design and engineering intersect with global ambition and the pursuit of ever-greater urban density.
