In 2016, Judith Kaufman, 2010, gave a private river cruise for a small group from DawdleFolkArt.com. Sometime later she was surprised to learn that she was in one of their Chicago puzzles. The puzzle is still available. Look for Judith in the front of a boat wearing her red jacket and hat.

Hartley Meyer, 2003, gave a private river cruise for Bono, his manager, and their wives and children in 2015. They were a delightful and attentive audience.

In October, 2019, Barbara Weiner, 2011, checked off her 50th state with a visit to Tulsa, OK. In a lecture, she had learned about the wonderful Art Deco buildings and highly recommends the Art Deco and museums there – definitely worth a weekend trip.

In 1996, Constance Rajala, 2008, was a contestant on Jeopardy. Constance’s advice: The secret is the timing of when to hit the reply button. You have to wait until Alex (or his successor) stops talking and a set of lights come up. If you are too early you get locked out. For competitive people, the urge to ring in immediately is hard to fight.

In 1995, Kelly Jones, 2016, a CAF employee at the time, believed CAF needed an official website as the internet boom was beginning. He reserved the address architecture.org and paid the maintenance costs for several years until CAF recognized its importance.
9 – In what year did the Chicago Model open?
The Chicago Model opened in 2009 to mark the 100th anniversary of the 1909 Chicago Plan. Produced by Columbian Model & Exhibit Works on a 3D printer, the original plan was for a 3 months temporary exhibit. The model has endured because of the specialized materials from DSM Additive Manufacturing and the skilled and intense care given by Columbian Model & Exhibit Works. In 2018, the model was enhanced and expanded to more than 4,000 buildings. More than 100,000 people visit the model every year.

In 1980, Florence Guerke, 1971, received the first Outstanding Docent Achievement Award. Bob Irving, 1971, received the award in 1983 and 1995.
