Rene Cantu 2023
Historic Treasures, January 2024

This was so much fun! I learned a TON! The history of the early skyscrapers is fascinating. Our tour docent, Rene, was very knowledgeable and super friendly, happy to answer all of our questions. He pointed out dozens of details (and the purpose/history behind them) that we never would have noticed otherwise. There’s a lot more to the architecture of Chicago than I realized. I never noticed the elegance of these early towers. Martin W

Mary Jo Hoag 2007
What’s New, February 2024

I just finished the What’s New walking tour through Streeterville led by my favorite docent, Mary Jo Hoag. I’ve known Mary Jo for probably 10 years and I’ve taken many of her tours including Graceland Cemetery, the Inland Steel building, the Fine Arts building and today Streeterville. Since Mary Joe researches and writes many of the tours herself, she is especially knowledgeable and for this tour she was able to talk to several of the architects who designed the buildings we saw and had inside information. I was lucky enough to be the only person on the tour so it was like strolling through the neighborhood with a friend. I’m always happy when I find out Mary Jo is going to be my docent and I look forward to taking more of her tours.

Amanda Lewis 2019
Elevated Architecture: Downtown ‘L’ Train, February 2024

Amanda was the tour guide of the L train. The view of the buildings was from a different vantage point than a regular walking tour. She had a historical perspective on the train, the buildings. She combined interesting information and a wonderful presentation. I felt I gleaned a lot of historical perspective of the foundation of Chicago along with the political climate that formed the building of the city as we know it today. Elaine T

Bob Pratt 2019
A Walk Thru Time, March 2024

I thoroughly enjoyed this walking tour. Having never been to Chicago but well aware of its architectural treasures, this was the highlight of my 2-day visit. As an employee with an architecture firm for over 20 years, this was on my bucket list and it did not disappoint. In fact it confirmed my suspicion that I must return for more of the tours. Our docent, Bob P., was very congenial, knowledgeable, entertaining, and approachable, all while leading us to all the points of interest safely and efficiently. 90 minutes went by very quickly. My highest recommendation! Tom G

Russ was very informative with a good mix of facts and stories. Speaker system was great to hear clearly throughout the boat, both inside and out. It was a chilly day, so was nice to have the option to be inside. Loved seeing parts of the river I hadn’t seen before and learning details about many of the buildings. mamamatt22 Bloomington, MN
