Delta Greene, 2008
Great new What’s New tour. Delta had lots of interesting personal observations and anecdotes about the architects. I like the environmental aspects of the new buildings. – FloridatravelerTampa Tampa FL
Mary Jo Hoag, 2007
Mary Jo was our River Cruise docent and she was excellent! So passionate, clear and articulate in her presentation, and she really was able to share that with us. Great sense of humor too. We went on this beautiful tour at the beginning of our stay, and it gave us a new awareness of the unique place Chicago holds in US history as shown through its architecture. The 90 minute tour flew by because it was so interesting. The young man who checked us in at the Westin hotel asked us what tour we were taking and when I told him “”The First Lady”” he said it was his favorite. I now understand why. Take it. You won’t be disappointed. – glutenfreegal1000 McLean, Virginia
Judith Kaufman, 2010
My husband and I greatly enjoy this wonderful River Cruise! We like to take it every year and always learn something new. As in all the trips we have experienced on the First Lady, our Docent, Judith, was outstanding. Judith was very knowledgeable, fun and enthusiastic. This Tour is our top choice of activities to share in Chicago with out-of-town guests. Our friends visiting from Minneapolis also were very delighted with this cruise. – Sharon R
Kelly Manteck, 2020
This will be a wonderful experience if you like to learn about the development of Chicago architecture in details. Kelly, our Walk Through Time volunteer guide, is knowledgeable, funny and enthusiastic. Feel like 90 minutes passed quickly for me. 🙂 – MP
Alina McMahon, 2012
Everything on the River Cruise was amazing. Alina the Docent was amazing. I learned so much. Loved going at 4 pm, in Nov because we started in daylight and ended up cruising the river in the night with all the buildings lit up. Recommend 100%. Ranks up at the top of the list of must-Dos with the Art Institute and the Cubs. – Auntbunny
Burt Michaels, 2019
Walking tour of Chicago’s West Loop “” Fulton Market”” area was excellent! Burt was a knowledgeable, energetic docent who presented history of the past and present buildings, while including photos. – Mia S
Margaret Newman, 2012
I took the Historic Treasures tour on November 13, 2021, with Margaret. I couldn’t have asked for a better guide to show us the city. The guides from the CAC are volunteer docents that must undergo a rigorous and long training before they are credited to guide the tours. I took three tours with them, all top-notch. Margaret made this one unforgettable; she took us inside several buildings such as the eye-popping Chicago Cultural Center (the former library), the Palmer Hotel, a true jewel in the middle of the city, and the iconic Macy with its Tiffany dome. Margaret went above and beyond what was expected from a guide, and we were all the richer for that. – sestiere Sacramento, California
Suzy Ruder, 2019
Perfect! Really great Must-See Chicago tour guide. Susie (sic) was amazing! I’m an architecture major and this is a must see and do tour! – Jaquelyn R
Matt Sheffer, 2019
We attended the tour ‘Elevated Architecture: Downtown “”L”” Train’ on December 5, 2021. Our guide Matt was very knowledgeable and friendly! Thank you! Hope to meet you again. – Alexey E Moscow, Russia
Lindy Trigg, 2003
One of the best tours ever! This was a 90 minute River Cruise of Chicago’s architecture that takes you through much of the city’s footprint. Every minute was full of information delivered by an extremely knowledgeable docent from the CAC. Our guide, Lindy, was funny, informative and clearly loved what she was doing. And we loved the presentation! A great way to see Chicago and learn about the history of this incredible city. – Jack K Flemington, New Jersey”
