Chicago Architecture Center tours are ALWAYS very detailed, interesting, engaging, and meaningful. Our docent, David, gave a really excellent tour for our group and it was so much fun to see the L and the city in a different way. Highly recommend this and any CAC tour to anyone, visiting or local. Chicago Icons: Connecting Past and Present, April 2023
This was my first time in Chicago and I only had two days to explore the city. With this tour (Connecting past and present), led by Bill, I understood the city in a way that would be impossible to do by myself, even if I had a whole week. Bill’s story put a meaning to the wonderful skyline of the city that I was seeing. Jet825073

Marcia Matavulj, 2008
Art Deco Skyscrapers Riverfront, April 2023
Marcia met us at the Architecture Centre and then spent 90 mins taking us on a wonderful journey through design, culture, history and community. That someone would spend a year to learn everything about Chicago architecture and then find a way to tell the story in her own way, says it all… her energy and enthusiasm was clear to see. Thank you Marcia and the CAC for drawing our attention to the city around us and sharing our history. Jin C

Jonelle Niffenegger, 2003
Art Deco Skyscrapers, April 2023
Jonelle was a fabulous guide! She really walked through the history of art deco and was thoughtful about the temperature of the tour (a walking tour on a 40° day) to share the info inside as much as possible without losing the beauty of the building exteriors!
Susan Robertson, 2009
Art Deco Skyscrapers Riverfront, April 2023
Susan Robertson was absolutely amazing and showed us grand fabulous lobbies and explained so much history. She is amazing. Ajay Y
Matt Sheffer, 2019
Historic Treasures, April 2023
Really informative and engaging tour that brought some of the beautiful turn-of-the-century architecture of Chicago to life. Matt was a wonderful, knowledgeable tour guide who clearly has a passion for the city and its beautiful buildings. I loved learning about the Cultural Center’s origins as a library and finding out more about the specific design choices of gorgeous buildings like Carbide & Carbon. I never would have seen the gems inside buildings like Macy’s/Marshall Fields and the Palmer House if it had not been for this tour. I thought it was a great complement to the Architecture Center’s River Cruise (also fantastic). Emily Norweg Harrogate, UK
Ronnie Jo Sokol, 2006
River Cruise, April 2023
There are a number of boat trips where you can see and learn about Chicago architecture, and this is the best choice. The docent who narrates the 90-minute cruise up and down the Chicago River ( in this case an excellent guide, Ronnie Jo and our Captain José), created a memorable trip loaded with fascinating information about the US Architecture Capitol. Covering both structural and historical content about a long list of buildings, Ronnie Jo clearly is a passionate expert on her favorite topic. A top of the list must if you’re visiting Chicago. Sacred Spaces in Downtown Chicago, April 2023
Did the Sacred Spaces walking tour with the Chicago Architecture Center. We saw beautiful indoor spaces, great stained glass and learned a lot. David was an excellent guide and very knowledgeable. I have done other CAC tours with him.
Mike Weiland, 1984
River Cruise, April 2023
We had the pleasure of taking the Chicago Architecture Center River Cruise aboard Chicago’s First Lady with Mike the Map Maker as our wonderful guide. What an excellent experience that we would highly recommend to anyone who is interested in learning about the architecture and history of Chicago. Mike was so knowledgeable; from the moment he began his presentation to the end of the experience, we were so impressed by his professionalism, presence and showmanship. The tour is approximately 90 minutes long and we could have gone on for hours more! Mike will do a deep dive into the history of Chicago’s greatest buildings with knowledge on the architects, era and style. We went from knowing very little about Chicago architecture to getting a thoroughly enjoyable crash course in an hour and a half. We left discussing Art Deco, Post Modernism and European styles of architecture, lol. Thank you again, Mike the Mapmaker, for sharing your time, knowledge and expertise with us, and to all of the crew aboard the First Lady for making our trip to Chicago a memorable one. We will definitely be back! Viva Glam M
