Kathleen Carpenter, Class of 2006
Keeping busy, indeed. Like many of us (including Jill Dahlke, below), Kathleen has been snapping photos as she takes her daily walk. She titled this photo of a city maintenance worker “Lonely on the Riverwalk.” Oh, yes!
Jill Dahlke, Class of 2005
Jill sends along this observation: “On my walk yesterday there were kayak-ers and ducks in the River along with a friendly family along the shore. To the north is the Montrose Avenue. bridge. Stay safe – Jill. ”
Judith Kaufman, Class of 2010
Judith presents her ode to the River Cruise – with apologies to John Masefield.
I must go down to the river again, to the lonely river and shore
And all I ask is a First Lady boat and a captain at the wheel room door
And 150 people sitting on deck and the mic safely wearing a sock
And 5 other boats awaiting the crowds as they eagerly sit at the dock.
I must go down to the river again, to the lonely river and shore
Yet I must stay home and review my notes, I must quarantine some more
I don’t care if it’s raining, and the sleet and snow are flying
Give me a tall ship named First Lady and then I’ll stop my crying.
Judith – you speak for all River docents
Judith, you’ve captured the mood of the moment with your lovely rhyme. Thanks!
Judith: That is wonderful; I agree with Corinne…..it’s sad not to have those river cruises and all the tourists queuing up for them, all day long……
Love the composition of the maintenance worker on the river-walk. The city is a work of art!
