Paul Meyers, Class of 2009
Paul’s mom, Loretta, is 100 years old and lives in a independent living residence in Wilmette. Of course, because of the corona virus restrictions, Paul has not been able to visit her. But that hasn’t stopped them from one of Loretta’s favorite pastimes. Every day, she and Paul do the Chicago Tribune crossword puzzle together – via the phone! Loretta has the paper, Paul provides the sounding board. But Loretta isn’t finished yet – she does the Jumble on her own. What a woman!
Roy Slowinski, Class of 2009
After the mask/face covering requirements were announced, I dug out our old sewing machine that I bought 22-years ago. I was never able to get it to work or get lessons before the shop moved and went out of business. But using the manual, I figured out the basics. I looked on the internet for mask/face covering DIY instructions and got busy. I made this CAC Logo one to use when tours start up again. Black is the new red.
Ann Speltz, Class of 2015
I’ve been keeping busy during lockdown drawing and painting. I’m a member of Urban Sketchers Chicago and members have been mostly drawing at home or in their backyards. We have a weekly prompt and this week it was to draw something related to a hobby. Here is a sketch, done on my iPad using Procreate, that depicts my (our) temporarily-set-aside CAC shirt and walking shoes: Docent Suspended.
Fascinating stuff…thanks, all!
Roy, that is awesome ! I sew and made about 25 marks. Where did you get the logo for the mask?

What wonderful stories. We each are doing something to deal with the issues of the pandemic. Roy looks great; I wish he could sew a mask like that for all of us. Thanks to Ann and Paul for their stories.
Wonderful stories. Such a creative bunch.
Roy, that mask is awesome!
Thanks Susan!
Fun stuff.
