Here’s what’s new in the galleries this week:
Exhibit Host Shift Change:
We are currently heading into our slow season and we will be adjusting shifts to accommodate the smaller crowds and make better use of your time. New shifts will start in January and run through March. The number of spots available per shift will be 2-3 depending on the day of the week. We will pick things back up in April. If you are signed up for either of the afternoon shifts in January or February, expect an email from Caroline soon so she can make adjustments and changes.

Resources on The Bridge:
We’ve just added a one page document about the design of the CAC. Click on the Exhibit Host file on The Bridge and look for Design of the Chicago Architecture Center. Great information on the past and present design at 111!
New Model in Drake:
Upon its completion, 111 West 57th Street will become the slenderest skyscraper in the world. The ultra-luxury residential tower, composed of full floor and duplex apartments soaring over Central Park South, is designed with a height-to-width ratio of 23:1 – a remarkably small footprint for a supertall building. The tower abuts the landmarked 1925 Steinway Building, which has been absorbed into the new development, repurposed as an entry point for residents. Material finishes and forms, including terra cotta pilasters, bronze ornamentation, and a sequence of feathered setbacks, nod to Manhattan’s historic skyscrapers of the early twentieth century.
