U.S. Modernist Radio   https://usmodernist.org/usmodernistradio.htm

This podcast arises from the sponsors of the US Modernist website, but its scope extends beyond the mid-century residential buildings featured online. Its 60+ episodes include discussion of a Calatrava public housing development, a conversation with the author of “Gordon Bunshaft and SOM,” an interview with the head of New York City’s Skyscraper Museum and many more.

Windy City Historians  http://windycityhistorians.com

Two amateur historians trace Chicago’s history through engaging interviews with a variety of experts. Starting with a revisionist theory about where Marquette and Joliet arrived in the Chicago area, they are working their way through a number of “firsts” – the first settler, the first murder, the first star. Plus, they’ve thrown in an unplanned episode about how Chicago responded to the Spanish flu in 1918. Co-host Patrick McBriarty is the author of “Chicago River Bridges.”

About Buildings + Cities   https://aboutbuildingsandcities.org

Rated one of the best 15 architecture and design podcasts by DeZeen magazine, two British architects discuss writings, buildings and styles, usually with a skeptical or critical eye. Some are a bit obscure, but many are entertaining and insightful, especially for people who don’t mind a bit of snark. With commentary on topics as varied as Michelangelo’s buildings, Le Corbusier’s grand designs for cities, Ayn Rand, “Blade Runner,” and Zaha Hadid, there’s something for everyone. (Almost all of the episodes are available free. A few episodes of bonus content are only available to paid members of the host site, patreon.com)

Thank you for these podcast recommendations. I need to get on the podcast bandwagons, but have not yet engaged. This might just push me in that direction. If you’re more of a Netflix person, I highly recommend the Netflix series” The World’s Extraordinary Homes,” It’s the kind of thing any architecture geek (all of us, right?) will love.
