From the first few bars of “Top Hat, White Tie and Tails” to the last farewell of evening, CAF docents and guests were treated to a fabulous DAN on Friday night. The Gold Coast Room of the historic Drake Hotel was the perfect spot to honor docents for their contributions during the past year.
The awards portion was the event’s stand-out attraction. The honorees were:
Outstanding Docent Achievement: Tom Carmichael
Docent Service: Kathy Baker, Lance Friedmann, Lindy Trigg, Rebecca Trumbull, Claudia Winkler
Neighborhood Tour Director: Sylvia Dunbeck
One Team Award: Maurice Champagne
Myra N. Gary Award for Excellence in Tour Development: Mary Jo Hoag
Above and Beyond – Just in Time (answering Help Wanted requests): Tom Kinsella, Mike McMains, Lisa Tallman
Above and Beyond – Tops in Tours (more than 300 tour hours): Barbara Badger, Jane Cahill, Greg Dreyer, Steve Gersten, Chris-Ellyn Johanson, Judith Kaufman, Tom Kinsella, Constance Rajala, Cindy Schneider, Ellen Shubart, Roy Slowinski
The 1920s-theme added to the festivities, which included the wonderful dinner, docent photo montage, raffle, milestone docent recognition, dance video by members of the DAN 2017 committee, and lots of music from the era.
