Continuing Education Requirement-Docent Only

Docents (Class of 2015 and on) are required to complete ONE continuing education activity and to record in VolunteerMatters. Docents from earlier classes, Education Guides, Exhibit Hosts, and Guest Services, while encouraged to attend such events, are not required to do so, nor should they record their attendance.

The following activities qualify as Continuing Education:

• Take three tours for which you are not certified. We recommend one building tour, one core tour, and one neighborhood tour. Moving vehicle tours also qualify, but, because of their cost, docents are not expected to take them for this purpose. If you choose this option, record this as one interaction, not 3 separate ones.
• Learn, certify, and give a new tour. The time to train is not actually needed, just the fact that this was done. No need to add up hours.
• Attend a docent enrichment event.
• Attend an event sponsored by the Education Committee.

Failure to complete this requirement will result in the deduction of one tour from the total tours completed.

Follow these step by step instructions on how to add your Continuing Education Requirement. Please remember to only use Continuing Education for both the TYPE and PROJECT CALENDAR. Do NOT use the tour name as the project calendar.
