Deadline Nears for New Tour Proposals

Do you have an idea for a new tour?

.
The Tour Committee is calling for proposals for new tours – tours that will be launched in 2022. To develop a tour, follow the instructions below to access the new proposal form. Send proposals to Caroline Duda (cd***@ar**********.org). Proposals are due Friday, November 5, 2021.

If you have been thinking about a theme that needs to be explored, a group of buildings crying for attention, or a neighborhood that offers possibilities, submit a proposal for a new tour.

For 2022 we are in particular interested in tours that will link to two planned exhibits at CAC: (1) climate change and the interaction between buildings and the environment and (2) affordable housing and housing types in Chicago (e.g., courtyard buildings, three and six flats, bungalows, Queen Anne’s, vernacular, etc.). We are also interested in tours that will attract a diverse audience and highlight identity, diversity, equity and access. While all proposals will receive serious consideration, not all proposals can be approved for development. Tours focusing on the topics above will receive priority.

We are accepting proposals for walking and bus tours. Unfortunately, we can no longer offer bike tours due to liability issues. Tours may include interiors of public buildings but not private homes. The Tour Committee reviews proposals for new tours only once a year. Now is your chance to get a new tour on the roster for 2022.

To access the form, go to Files and Documents on the home page of The Bridge, then click on Docents,>Tour Committee>Development of Tours>Tour Proposal Form v 2021.

We look forward to hearing from you.
