This historic Frank Lloyd Wright property is for sale in Milwaukee | Wisconsin Public Radio, October 4. “Waters said the home does have “strong connections” to the Prairie style, which Wright is famous for. That style includes an emphasis on the horizontal rather than the vertical and can feature flat or shallow hipped rooflines, rows of windows, overhanging eaves and bands of stone and wood or brick across the surface, according to the Chicago Architecture Center.”

Early Evening News | WGN-TV, October 3. “Later this month, the public will be able to check out more than 170 sites in the city as part of the Chicago Architecture Center’s Open House Chicago. And, joining us now to talk a little bit more about this Open House is Angela Esposito. She’s a senior director of learning and community engagement for the Chicago Architecture Center. I love this because people get to see stuff that they normally wouldn’t, you’re taking them behind the scenes, so explain what you mean by that, and what they get to see.”

A Snob’s Guide to Chicago | Town & Country, October 2. “ I started visiting Chicago regularly after college, when my closest friends moved there. We went to the old Bistro 110 and felt very proud when we graduated to drinks at the Violet Hour and the Aviary, and then dinner at the Publican and Girl & the Goat (still favorites). There are things on this list I’ve loved for 30 years. Others became musts more recently. I also get a little help from my highly opinionated friends and family. Let’s call them the HOFs.”

Never Have I Ever: Chicago edition | Hispanic Business TV, October 1. “First up: Monica here, with a confession that I’ve never gone on an architecture boat tour. The experience: The Chicago Architecture Center’s boat tour featuring the fascinating stories behind 50 buildings along the river over 90 minutes for $53.85.The backstory: I’ve sent many houseguests on the tour but never felt I had the time — or that it would be much different from that Geoffrey Baer show. The verdict: I went on a shortened 30th anniversary tour last week and found the IRL experience breathtaking and illuminating — the river is a perfect stage for this history.”

36 Hours In Chicago: Things To Do And See | Art + Living, September 28. “First-time visitors to Chicago can find themselves awe-struck by the sheer scale of the place: the grand skyline, the vastness of Lake Michigan, and the miles of manicured parkland and beaches. Exploring all of Chicago, the nation’s third-largest city, is impossible in a single weekend, but it’s plenty of time to get a taste for what has made Chicago beloved by natives and tourists alike: easily navigable public transit, world-class museums, an eclectic mix of architectural styles and an inventive restaurant scene that offers far more than an Italian beef and a shot of Malört. The city is shaking off its pandemic dust, setting records for hotel occupancy in 2023 and getting ready for a big moment in the political spotlight next summer, when the Democratic National Convention comes to town.”

36 Hours in Chicago | New York Times, September 28. “Walk outside to marvel at the architectural gems in your midst: along Lake Shore Drive, the glassy twin Mies van der Rohe residential towers, a classic example of the architect’s Modernist contributions to the city, or rare Gilded Age mansions built after the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. For a more structured guide to the neighborhood’s architecture, sign up for a 90-minute walking tour from the Chicago Architecture Center ($30 a person).”

A Piece of Your City | Living the Map, September 27. “The city is built exceptionally well and easy to navigate.  Chicago is known for many industries, arts and foods, but it was a no brainer to learn about its iconic architecture.  I think about one of the best skylines in the country, the park system along the waterfront, and the elevated trains. I connected with the Chicago Architecture Center about my journey and they suggested learning how to build a 3D model of the Navy Pier, specifically the Ferris Wheel.  Why the wheel? It was the first in the world, built for the chic 1893 World’s Fair. Do we even have those anymore? It’s been a Chicago staple since”

Using their smartphone, passengers will be able to listen to pre-recorded narration in Spanish, French, Japanese or Korean.(Translated from FR)
