CAC Docents and Volunteers Pitch In

By Ellen Shubart, Class of 2006

Wondering what people are doing with their time these days? In addition to Keeping Busy! (see the related article) and participating in Arch Madness, docents and volunteers also are working on CAC programming.

Docents and volunteers have submitted short stories about local walks in their neighborhoods, interesting buildings, artwork or other points of interest for CAC@Home, CAC’s new online newsletter. Look for Leanne Star’s story about a lovely stroll in the Shakespeare Garden on the Northwestern University campus in yesterday’s edition. Look for more stories future editions of CAC@Home – coming to your email queue soon.

At the same time, another group of docents is working on providing online lectures to members and the public on a variety of topics. Staffer Adam Rubin kicks off the series tomorrow (Saturday, April 4 at 1 pm and Tuesday, April 7 at 7pm– you can sign up on the CAC website), but in the coming weeks you’ll see docents giving talks about architecture as well.

Never let it be said that CAC docents and volunteers don’t rise to any occasion when they are called upon. Isn’t that why we all volunteer at CAC?
