Architecture & Design Film Festival

This snowy weekend is the perfect time curl up on your couch and check out the line-up to the upcoming Architecture & Design Film Festival at the CAC (Jan 31-Feb 4). We will be hosting two dozen feature-length screenings over the course of the five-day program, plus there will be nearly a dozen film shorts playing for free at all hours of the fest in our Chicago Gallery. Look here for a quick 60-second teaser, and here for the full-line-up.

We asked our Director of Interpretation and film buff Adam Rubin for some quick recommendations to this year’s program and here’s what he had to say: “For docents leading any of CAC’s Modernism tours, you might want to catch the The Mies Van der Rohes; or maybe use the festival for the chance to appreciate an architect you know less about like The Genius of Place: The Life and Work of Geoffrey Bawa. We also have quirky tales that are perfect for film like Soviet Bus Stops, or maybe take in a viewing of Veins, where filmmakers meticulously follow the sourcing of marble from quarry to building site. There’s no shortage of great design stories… and since it’s the movies, it’s always better to attend with a friend or even a small group.”

Come support CAC as we endeavor to create this new annual tradition for design lovers in Chicago. All the needed info can be found here: https://filmfest.architecture.org/
