Lego Competition: Tales of Chicago

Josh Brickman (2017)

As a former structural engineer, Josh Brickman (Class of 2017) worked on several major skyscrapers in downtown Chicago over the years. On these projects Josh faced the same toolbox of materials – steel, concrete, wood — and the same laws of physics as other architects and engineers. But within these limitations, magnificent structures and architectural masterpieces are created.

Now, building with Lego feels just like that! Everyone has access to the same pieces – the only other thing you need is your imagination! With those tiny plastic bricks you can recreate famous paintings, design complex shapes and have a blast!

Inspired by Chicago’s iconic flag, Josh interpreted each of the four moments of Chicago history the stars represent, and posted his designs to Legos Ideas. Legos Ideas is a crowd-sourcing platform where users submit project ideas, and if they reach 10,000 votes, Lego considers them for real sets!
