It’s that time of year again……add your service hours and Continuing Education requirements!
Service Hours
Service hours are contributions of time made to CAC by docents, education guides, exhibit hosts, and guest services in ways other than giving tours and regularly scheduled shifts. Service hours are combined with tour and shift hours to determine benefit levels. Service hours are different than continuing education activities. There is no requirement to contribute service hours.
OHC
If you volunteered for OHC as a greeter, district coordinator, or site host, please add these hours!
Training Hours
Training sessions are traditionally not included towards service hours. However, 2018 is different. Docents who participated in a 1 day training sessions received 10 hours, 2 day sessions were 20 hours. All Exhibit Hosts received 10 hours for their training sessions.
Continuing Education (Docents Only)
The requirement to complete one continuing education activity yearly applies only to the docent classes of 2015 and beyond. Docents from earlier classes, while encouraged to attend such events, are not required to do so, nor should they record their attendance.
The following activities qualify as Continuing Education:
● Take three tours for which you are not certified.
● Learn, certify, and give a new tour.
● Volunteer as a Docent Interpreter for Open House Chicago.
● Attend a docent enrichment event.
● Attend an event sponsored by the Education Committee.
Check out the link below for a quick tutorial on how to add these to volunteer history:
Service Hours and Continuing Ed Cheat Sheet
We are in the process of updating all of our language so please disregard any old terms (CAF, VEV, etc.) The steps to take are still the same.
*Exhibit Hosts and Guest Services-if you started volunteering this year, you have a full year from your training date to complete your requirements.
