A Few Quick Tips to Help Grow CAF’s Social Media Presence!

In today’s digital age, social media is an important tool to help increase awareness about CAF’s offerings. As a docent or volunteer, you play a very important role in encouraging tour-takers and visitors to spread the word about CAF. Here are a few quick tips to help grow CAF’s social media presence!

1. Ask tour-takers to follow CAF on all social media platforms
We post different architecture and design-related content on each of CAF’s social media platforms, so there is always something new to discover! Our most popular platforms are Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Your tour-takers will likely be active on at least one of these platforms, and these platforms are particularly good for sharing images with friends. CAF’s other platforms include LinkedIn, Pinterest and YouTube.

2. Remind tour-takers to “tag” CAF in all of their social media posts
Tagging is a way of linking one’s social media post to another account. When tour-takers tag CAF in their photos, we receive a notification so we are able to see the photos they took on a CAF tour. Methods of tagging vary across different social media platforms. In general, encourage tour-takers to include CAF’s account name (@chiarchitecture) in their posts in order to tag us.

3. Encourage tour-takers to take lots of photos!
We love when people send us photos from their tours! The best way for tour-takers to share photos with CAF is via Facebook’s messaging tool. Tour-takers should click on the “Send Message” button at the top of CAF’s Facebook page. Alternatively, tour-takers can tag CAF in their posts and we’ll receive a notification to view the photo.

4. Tell tour-takers to include our official hashtag, #ChiArchitecture, in their posts
Hashtags—words or phrases that start with a pound sign—are used to group posts together. By selecting a hashtag, people can easily search through images with a similar theme. Tour-takers should include #ChiArchitecture in their posts so everyone can see the incredible photos they took during their CAF tour.

5. Encourage tour-takers to leave a review on TripAdvisor or Yelp
One of the best ways to spread the word about CAF’s incredible tours is by telling the world about it! Reviews are a great way to get feedback about what we’re doing well and how we can improve. Plus, the more reviews we receive, the higher up CAF appears in a list of search results. Our main review platforms are TripAdvisor and Yelp, but tour-takers can also leave reviews on Facebook and Google.

Now you’re well on your way to becoming a CAF social media ambassador! For some inspiration, here’s an example of a closing for your tour that puts these tips into action: “Thanks for joining us! Be sure to follow CAF on social media, and tag your posts with the handle and hashtag ‘ChiArchitecture.’ We hope you enjoyed the tour and tell everyone about it by leaving a review on Yelp and TripAdvisor!”
