Always wanted to share your information about a fabulous topic with a broader audience? Here’s your chance. We’re looking for docents and volunteers for the 2024 docent/volunteer CAC Live programs.
If you take part, you’ll create a 45-minute program to be presented via Zoom. You’ll use PowerPoint or Keynote for your photos and illustrations, and you’ll provide the commentary. These programs are very popular with our members and guests – typically, more than 100 guests log in to each program.
Previous topics have included building styles and designs; architects’ work and bios; women in architecture; specific events or neighborhoods in Chicago’s history. What fascinates you is certain to fascinate others, and docents and volunteers know how to present lively, engaging and entertaining programs. This one happens to be on Zoom rather than on the street.
Some of our best presentations have been the “untold” stories, that bounty of information you would have loved to talk about on your tour but didn’t have enough time. You might have watched the recent CAC Live River Cruise “untold” stories” presentation. In 2024, we’re looking for a similar take on other tours. What “untold” stories would you like to be able to share with your guests? We’ll bet our CAC Live audience would love them.
This coming year, CAC as an organization is focusing on a series of topics. It would be fantastic if a docent or volunteer could provide a presentation on any of the following subjects:
- Changing downtown
- Empty and Vacant Lots (with an emphasis on housing options)
- Environment: It’s impact on architecture
.
