Celebrate and hail the Chicago Architecture Center Walking Tour — the basic element of docent training, the tour that began life at CAC, the backbone of the tour program.
Recently, new marketing efforts have been put in place to advertise these tours, according to Lauren Bakos, Senior Director of Marketing and Membership.
Today, those efforts are being implemented with four new ads.
“From Moving Bridges to Movie Locations,” is the first slogan out, with photo and the CAC brand in the lower righthand corner. Three other versions include “From Hotel Lobbies to High-rise Wonders,” “From A Mile of Murals to Modernist Masterpieces,” and “From Sculpture Gardens to Steel Skyscrapers.” Clever language, good photography and, of course, great tours to advertise all make it work. These will each be used on bus shelters, in the Chicago Reader, and in online/digital advertising copy. CAC’s plan is to update the photography to match the theme of each tour; plans for that will unfold this summer, Bakos reported. We look forward to seeing those as well.
New Signage at the River Cruise Docks
“Am I in the right place for my tour?” If you’ve frequented the docks where our River Cruises originate, it’s a question you’ve probably heard. Other companies, including Shoreline and Wendella, compete with our (vastly superior, of course) cruise for the visitors who flock to the Chicago River. Finally, visitors can immediately identify where our tours begin. Beautiful new signage recently designed and installed by our cruise partner, Chicago’s First Lady Cruise Lines (CFL), is easily seen from both sides of the DuSable Bridge. We are happy that our location is now clearly marked, and we trust that the new signage also marks the beginning of a hugely successful season for the CAC/CFL Architectural River Cruise.

Love these slogans and the new signage!
