What’s Happening at the CAC:

Happy Volunteer Appreciation Week!! If you haven’t done so, don’t forget to stop in the Volunteer Library to grab some snacks and goodies while you are in the center. There will be goodies Today (4/21) and Tomorrow (4/22).

Upcoming Event:

There are a couple events coming up this month to celebrate National Parks Week at the CAC! For those who don’t know, National Parks week is April 22 – 30, so we will be hosting 2 events centered around Pullman, our newest national park in Illinois.  On April 20 and 27, from 10 am – 12 pm, a park ranger will be stationed in the orientation area talking about Pullman and national parks in general. A model of Pullman will be placed in the orientation space, as well! Just wanted you to be aware of our guests located in the center! If you around on those days, feel free to ask them questions and learn more about our national parks. The CAC will also be hosting a program about Pullman and National Parks on April 22nd at 11am!

Reframed: Futures of Cities in Wood will be opening this week on April 26th! For more information about the exhibit, click here.

Girls Build! Day Recap:

Girls Build! Day – one of the CAC’s premier education offerings – is a special STEM festival designed just for girls ages 11-17. This year’s event was held on Saturday, March 25, 2023. Over the course of the festival, girls were able to build, learn and network with professionals in the STEM fields. The day also included an all-female panel discussion about STEM careers and the unique challenges and successes panelists faced as they pursued careers in architecture, engineering, and design. Girls were encouraged to ask questions and shape the conversation.

Representatives from more than 15 museums, youth programs, design firms and pro-girl agencies were on hand to teach girls about opportunities for them in the Chicago area. Attendees could also make and test solutions at STEM activity stations. More than 260 people—from 22 unique zip codes visited Girls Build! Day.
