Bob Levy, a current river docent trainee (and former executive producer of Gossip Girl), recently caught an episode of Antiques Roadshow in which an art appraiser reviews an early-20th century oil painting. The image is of Michigan Avenue looking northwest from the Art Institute steps. Applying his newfound knowledge of the buildings along the street wall (which he learned in his training), Bob determined that the appraiser misdates the painting by about 17 years! He then took it upon himself to write the producer, and lo and behold, the show posted a correction on their website with attribution to Bob Levy and the Chicago Architecture Center!
