You might have noticed some new artwork in the Center. This monumental piece, which spans the entire height of our façade at 111 E Wacker, was created by the painter and muralist Langston Allston as part of the CAC’s celebration of Black History Month. His intention was to depict a world where communities have control of the built environment surrounding them and design protects and elevates people in innovative and empathic ways. We were able to create a short video outlining Langston’s process and inspiration, as well as the mural’s ties to the upcoming Singer Pavilion: Honoring Legacy Through Design exhibition, which I wanted to share with the organization: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6TMV7MxTG8. If you haven’t had a chance to see it yet, it’s on view through mid-March.
