CAC volunteers are invited to visit the Wild Mile, a floating park in the Chicago River, east of Goose Island. The first phase of the Wild Mile, which will eventually extend from Halsted to North Ave., was completed early this summer. Eventually the park will consist of floating gardens and forests with public walkways and kayak docks in the Chicago River. It will function as an open-air museum, botanical garden, community classroom, and provide habitat for native wildlife.
Tomorrow, Saturday, October 1, we will have an opportunity to explore this stretch of wildlife wonder. Our guide will be Brittany Harthan of Urban Rivers who will lead us on a 45 minute walk. The tours will be held at 10am and 11am. Meeting place is 905 W Eastman, outside the REI store.
If you would like to go and have not already registered, send Marcia Ross an email at mj******@gm***.com.
