CAC has enabled a Multi-Factor Authentication for all computers/devices that access our systems. Below you will find general information about MFA and how this will affect you. The most important thing about this is that it requires NEW LOGINS for the library computers. There are separate logins and passwords for each computer. The new information is posted next to each computer. The old login WILL NOT work. If you are having trouble logging in, please stop attempting and ask for help. The computers will lock if you enter the wrong information 3 times in a row.
What is Multi-Factor Authentication?
- Multi Factor Authentication is a security measure used in addition to your account password(s) to help protect against outside parties with malicious intent.
- It’s very similar to security on your personal Social media and e-mail accounts such as Facebook, or G-Mail
- MULTI-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION HAS BECOME A COMPLIANCE STANDARD AND REQUIREMENT DUE TO INCREASED SECURITY THREATS.
What to Expect, and how will this affect you?
- The IT dept will be enabling Multi-Factor Authentication for All ACCOUNTS. The deployment date(s) will be coming soon!
- We will be using an industry lead product that is extremely easy to use, and as previously stated we’ll be walking you through setup.
- We will provide a hardware key fob that will need to be signed out by the IT department, also referred to as a “token”. These tokens are very expensive and will need to be handled with extreme care!!
- If lost or damaged, the wait time for a token replacement is between 2 – 3 months! Keep in mind that during this time you will need the smartphone app to access your computer. We highly recommend using the smartphone app!
