Here are the answers to last week’s trivia about Docent Council presidents.
1- Who was the first DC president and what was his/her profession?
John Thorpe was the first Docent Council president, and he was an architect. He served in 1971 and 1972.
2- Did any DC president serve more than one term?
Ken Monroe served two terms as Docent Council president. His first term was from 1978-1981. His second term was in 1990.
3- How many presidents has Docent Council had?
Docent Council has had 28 presidents (29, if you count Ken Monroe twice).
4- How many men have been president of DC? How many women?
We have had 12 men and 16 women as DC presidents.
5- How many are still actively giving tours?
There are 12 DC presidents still giving tours. They are Dan Fitzgerald, Michael Weiland, Tom Drebenstedt, Tori Simms, Jane Buckwalter, Donna Gabanski, Bobbi Pinkert, Jill Tanz, Mary Jo Hoag, Ellen Shubart, Constance Rajala, and Kent Foutty.
6- Which DC president was the youngest person to become a docent?
Past president, Dan Fitzgerald, was the youngest person to become a docent. He was 24. A close second was Michael Weiland who was 25 when he became a docent.
7- How many DC presidents have also received the Outstanding Docent award?
Thirteen Docent Council presidents have received the Outstanding Docent award. They are: Mary Lou Caldwell, Joe LaRue, Bill Hoffman, Dan Fitzgerald, Tom Drebenstedt, Judith Randall, Donna Gabanski, Jane Buckwalter, Bobbi Pinkert, Jill Tanz, Ellen Shubart, Mary Jo Hoag, and Constance Rajala.
