It’s time to sign up for the November session of the CAC Enrichment Book Club!
This month we will be reading a book suggested by the Education Committee to complement the curriculum that will be presented during All Docent Day. Given the social unrest that has swept our nation, the Chicago Architecture Center is committed to address the issues of race, equity, and inclusion through our tour content, docent recruiting, community programs and all aspects of its activities. The curriculum is designed to answer this question: what do we need to do in order to tell a more representative and honest story about Chicago’s architecture?
November’s Featured Book: The Warmth of Other Suns – The Epic Story of America’s Great Migration by Isabel Wilkerson. In this epic, beautifully written masterwork, Pulitzer Prize–winning author Isabel Wilkerson chronicles one of the great untold stories of American history: the decades-long migration of black citizens who fled the South for northern and western cities, in search of a better life. Read more about the book.
November sessions will be held the weeks of November 1, 8, 15, and 29 (skipping Thanksgiving week) on either Wednesday or Thursday. CLICK HERE to register. During registration, please indicate which day you prefer to participate.
