CAC has been monitoring developments regarding the global spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus). As always, our primary concern is the safety and wellness of our staff, volunteers, and visitors.
While we continue standard practices for facility cleanliness, we are taking additional measures to keep all of our common areas and equipment disinfected and are adding hand sanitizing supplies throughout our spaces, including offices and the center.
The primary way to avoid contracting or spreading influenza, COVID-19, and other viruses is hand washing, covering coughs and sneezes, avoiding direct physical contact (e.g., handshakes), and staying home if you have symptoms and/or a fever; you should be fever free (without fever-reducing medicine) at least 24 hours before returning to work. Please visit the CDC’s coughing and sneezing etiquette and clean hands webpage for more information.
Given the quickly-changing nature of both the spread of this virus and the suggested response, we will communicate regularly with you over the coming weeks. The Cook County Department of Public Health and the Illinois Department of Public Health are developing more specific guidance as the situation evolves, and we will be following their guidance as we develop our plans.
We will continue to keep you informed as this situation develops. Thank you for your partnership in keeping our staff, volunteers, and visitors safe.
