We want to add two docents to this building tour. The tour concentrates on the Golden Era of the store, covering the architecture of this State Street landmark by Daniel Burnham and Company as well as the elegance of shopping in that era. Included are the lavish Tiffany vaulted ceiling, the Walnut Room, the strained glass exhibit from the Smith Museum in the pedway just outside Macy’s, and many stories about the store and Marshall Field.
The tour is given on the third Monday of each month, from 12:15 – 1:15. Two docents are scheduled for each tour and the average total attendance per month is 12. Certification is accomplished by taking the tour, reading the manual and practicing, and then certifying. This is a good opportunity for docents who are not certified currently for more than 4 tours. Interested docents should contact Delta Greene (de**********@al****.edu) or Donna Gabanski (dg*******@co*****.net) by November 18.
I’d love to, by alas work is in the way, let me know if there’s ever an intent to add to the weekend schedule…
