Every year AIA Illinois, the state component of the American Institute of Architects, bestows the Richard Nickel Honor Award, recognizing a citizen who lifts up architecture and the profession. This year the award went to Lynn Osmond (1997) for her work in paving the way for the growth of “architectural tourism” over the past 20 years.
Kim Kurtenbach, President of the AIA Illinois Board of Directors, commented, “Including her work to found the Association of Architecture Organizations, which now includes 160 international members, the impact she has had on public understanding of our profession is staggering.” We agree! Congratulations Lynn!
The article titled Design 50 in the March edition of New City magazine noted both Lynn and Michael Wood. They are in the company of Carol Ross Barney and John Vinci, along with 47 others. Pick up a copy and have a look.
If you are a CAC staffer, docent, or volunteer, it’s more than likely you’ve met Ellen Shubart (2006). One of our community’s most active members, Ellen is a daily presence at CAC. We’re not the only organization to benefit from Ellen’s energy and commitment. She was recently elected to the Village of Glencoe Hall of Fame.
The Hall of Fame represents a group of only 150 Glenconians whose lives and ideas have impacted the community during the 150-year history of the Village. Are we surprised? No! Congratulations Ellen!
Congratulations to Lynn and Ellen. Well-deserved accolades for both of them.
Rock on, Ellen!! Congratulations from a fellow Glenconian!
