Docent-Volunteer CAC Campaign Update

If you have looked closely at the temporary donor wall just to the right as you enter the CAC, you’ll notice that “The Chicago Architecture Foundation Docents and Volunteers” are listed in the $50,000 to $99,000 group along with the likes of Allstate Insurance and the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. We want to thank everyone who has reached into their pockets and bank accounts to make the docent-volunteer campaign for the new center a success. Thus far docents and volunteers have donated $63,000. Considering all of the hours we have also donated to CAC, we should be extremely proud of our double, time and money, contributions and achievement.

Our move to 111 E. Wacker and the opening of the new exhibits has made quite a splash. Over 8,000 people came through CAC over the opening Labor Day weekend. Walking down the streets in our red shirts, we have had several random strangers stop and congratulate us on our new location and facilities. If comments like these are any indication, we have really increased our on-the-street awareness among the people of Chicago. The new CAC is an unqualified success and a great addition to Chicago, the city of architecture.

The campaign continues through the end of 2018. Our goal continues to be to raise $100,000 and achieve naming rights for the GTS kiosk. If you would like to make a contribution – a gift of any amount is welcome – you can do so online at architecture.org; send a check to the attention of Beth Bentley at CAC (111 E. Wacker, Suite 1321) or phone (312.561.2116); or email her at bb******@ar**********.org.

A sincere and heart-felt thank you to all.
